Linux could’ve become one of the richest software companies in history. Instead, it changed the rule

In 1991, a Finnish computer science student named Linus Torvalds released Linux as a hobby project.

Nobody imagined that decades later it would power most cloud servers, Android devices, stock exchanges, supercomputers, and much of the internet itself.

🌍Unlike traditional software companies, Linux embraced open collaboration. Thousands of developers contributed to it, while businesses built products and services around it.

Companies like Red Hat, Google, IBM, Amazon, and countless startups created massive value using Linux.

⚡Ironically, Linux became one of the most successful technologies precisely because nobody tried to own all of it.

Sometimes abundance scales further than control.
