তিস্তার মতো গঙ্গার পানি বণ্টন চুক্তি নিয়ে পশ্চিমবঙ্গের মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের মনোভাবের কড়া সমালোচনা শুরু হয়েছে খোদ তার নিজের রাজ্যজুড়ে। তৃণমূল নেত্রীর এমন মনোভাবে প্রতিবেশী দুই দেশের সম্পর্কে নেতিবাচক প্রভাব পড়ার আশঙ্কাও করছেন মমতার রাজ্যের বর্ষীয়ান সাংবাদিকরা। তাদের কেউ কেউ বলছেন, ২০১১ সালে তিস্তা চুক্তির সময় তৎকালীন মনমোহন সিং সরকার অনেক চেষ্টা করেও বোঝাতে পারেননি মমতাকে। তবে গঙ্গার চুক্তি নবায়ন মমতা আটকাতে পারবেন না।
