A Hollywood veteran, an actor, a dancer, a singer, a writer and a producer. Yes, it is all about him- Richard Wayne Van Dyke. Over 70 years, he has been working in the entertainment industry. He started out as a host on a radio and later appeared on Broadway. He was gradually becoming more and more successful, slowly leading to a professional career on a big screen. He got his own show called the Dick Van Dyke Show which brought him worldwide fame. He can boast of all possible and impossible awards, like a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, being a Disney legend and many others.

Dick’s mother, Hazel was a stenographer by profession. The family was very religious and at some point, Dick even thought of a career in the ministry. However, at high-school, the drama classes changed it all.

The father, Loren was a baseball player. He met Hazel at a quite young age of 23 and very quickly they became parents to two children. According to Dick, his dad was an extremely easy-going man, leading a carefree life until Hazel made him get a proper job as a traveling salesman.

The famous TV host had a brother, Jerry McCord, who was also into the moviemaking industry as an actor as well as a comedian and musician. Before joining the US Air Force, he had been performing as a stand-up comedian. Later, he appeared at his brother’s show and was even offered a couple of roles in some minor sitcoms. All this made him return to stand-ups as he was really good at it. The comedian died to a heart failure in 2018.

Richard has been married thrice with Margie Willett being his first spouse.

They knew each other for a long time but couldn’t afford the wedding. And so, a radio producer offered to help them if they tie the knot during the show. This was a great opportunity for the couple and so, that’s what they did in 1948 on a radio show called Bride and Groom. The couple had been together for almost 4 decades and produced 4 kids. However, having already four children, Dick got addicted to alcohol and a new lady because of who he left the family. That’s how his married life ended after 36 years.

Michelle Triola Marvin was a woman, who made Van Dyke leave the family. She became his long term-partner in 1976 and their relationship lasted until her death from lungs cancer in 2009.

In 2012, when the veteran actor was 86, he married a makeup artist, Arlene Silver who was 40 at that time. According to common friends, the two love-birds are very happy together, sharing many things in common, like music, singing, etc. The couple had been dating for about 6 years with Arlene working for Dick as a makeup artist. Despite the age gap, they are still together till present moment.

In the first marriage with Willett, the celebrity has four kids.

Christian is the first child to a star. He is an attorney by profession.

Barry was delivered in 1951 and is an actor. All Van Dyke’s kids tried their skills in the filmmaking sphere, but only Barry has a full time job as a movie performer. He is married and is a father to four children.

The third kid with Willett is Carrie Beth. She is known as the daughter of a famous actor and is married to an actor Kevin McNally.

The fourth child and the second daughter is Stacy. She passed away in 2017.
