Jimmy Carter on U.S.-China Relations

President Jimmy Carter addressed students studying China in political science, history, and Chinese language classes. President Carter discussed his involvement in establishing diplomatic relations with China while serving as the 39th President of the United States. In response to a student's question, President Carter said, "The future of international relations is going to...focus around U.S.-China relations. I think it's the most important bilateral relationship in the world and there is no doubt in my mind that if a student is contemplating studying a language or becoming acquainted with a foreign economic and political system that China would be the best choice."
