After reading the script, Jean-Jacques Beineix and I met and he asked me to write the main themes before the film shoot. Some of these themes, for example 'Le Tango de l'Impasse' and 'Danse de Bella' would be part of the action during the scenes. During the filming, the actors, Nastassja Kinski, Gérard Depardieu and Victoria Abril could hear demos of my music on set.
Some pieces, such as 'Tango de l'Impasse' and 'Danse de Bella' were released on the soundtrack in their original demo form!
