EVO 4 by Audient 2in/2out Audio Interface - THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE
EVERYTHING you want to know about the Audient EVO 4 audio interface. The ONLY video you need to watch to learn everything!
#Audient #Evo4
The Evo 4 and Evo 8 are a new line of audio interfaces from Audient that focus on making recording EASY!
We will cover the Evo 4 here, but most of what you see also applies to the Evo 8.
In this video we will go over what is included, see how to operate the interface, register it, get the included software and driver, set it up with our DAW, record a microphone, record a guitar, and see how to use loopback.
Like I said, you will learn EVERYTHING about this interface in one video.
The Evo 4 introduces a new feature called SmartGain which can automatically set the proper input gain levels for you.
It also includes Loopback. Once you have an audio interface with loopback, you will NEVER buy one that doesn't have it. And since this interface is only a bit over $100 (US) it's pretty crazy to have all of these features included (not to mention the great sounding preamps)
With loopback, you could record computer audio (media player, internet video, Skype call) into your DAW.
And, you can also use loopback to send your DAW audio out to OBS Studio, Streamlabs, or other screen-recording or streaming software.
Loopback makes it EASY to create plugin or DAW demos/tutorials, or to live stream with your DAW. All of that is covered in this video.
The Evo 4 is a 2in/2out audio interface.
It has a 1/4" JFET instrument input on the front (for guitar or bass) and 2 XLR - 1/4" combo inputs on the rear. (If you plug in to the instrument input on the front, Input 1 on the rear is bypassed)
The Evo 4 has 2 1/4" TRS outputs on the rear for studio monitors/speakers, and a headphone output on the front.
When you plug in a pair of headphones, the outputs on the rear are automatically muted.
Phantom Power can be turned on (for condenser mics) PER input.
You have direct monitor control for zero latency recording, you can even pan the direct monitor which is useful when monitoring a stereo input source.
The interface is well thought out and easy to use once you know the functions - and we will cover them ALL here.
The Evo 4 is USB bus powered, meaning you don't need to plug it in to an outlet. It uses a USB-C port, but the interface runs on USB 2.0 - and USB2 is more than fast enough for this interface. If you don't believe me, check the math:
https://audient.com/tutorial/usb-in-audio/
The included USB cable is a Type-C to Type-A and is about 60 inches long.
The preamps sound awesome, and they have a 58dB total gain range (-8dB - +50dB) and can drive most microphones easily.
The Evo 4 is compatible with Windows, Mac, and some iOS devices.
In this video we will be using Windows 10.
You also get a collection of free software with this interface once you register your unit.
