Thanksgiving Eve Texas Saltwater Slams With Reel Bolivar Fishing Guide | Galveston East Bay

HIGHLIGHT(S):
* Caught my PB flounder in Galveston East Bay @ 22.5"
* Full morning of catch and release.
* Sight casted a school of redfish and landed one

REPORT SUMMARY: Got a little break from the high winds and went fishing with my buddy, Capt Mark Allen II (Reel Bolivar Fishing Guide). He wanted to show me some more skinny water fishing holes to sight cast for redfish in Galveston East Bay. The north wind yesterday blew the water out of the marsh, so we were expecting a very low tide that would gather up the fish. We got distracted by birds working over trout feeding at the mouth of every bayou that we passed. Trout were hitting everything, but really keyed in on top-waters. Top-water bite was a lot of fun for about an hour.
We then made our way into the marsh and caught more trout on soft plastics on our way to the back of the marsh. Spotted pods of redfish working their way through the flats. A pod made its way toward us within casting distance. My first cast hit one red on the head and spooked him off. Mark managed to get hooked up with another one in the same pod. That red fought it's way all around the boat, around the power pole, under the boat . . . tough fish to land.
Went to another spot in the back lake and didn't find much action, but I noticed a depression near the boat. Dropped my jig right near it and BOOM! Landed my PB flounder for Galveston East Bay at 22.5".
We hit several other spots and caught more trout and some smaller reds. Overall great day just before Thanksgiving.

LURES THAT WORKED: DSL Burner Shad 3.5" and 4" White Ice, Bone Diamond and Chartreuse Flash rigged under a 1/8 oz jighead. Marker 54 Glide Shrimp rigged under a 4-Horsemen popping cork, Spook Jr (Bone), Duke Dog Mirrolure (Ghost Glow)
