CIRSD Conference on WWI: Panel "What Kind of Failure?" - Dr. Vojislav Pavlović

Topic of discussion of the panel: Was the outbreak of the Great War in August 1914 a failure of diplomacy, or a failure of foresight on the part of political and military elites, who went to war open-eyed but miscalculated consequences?

Vojislav Pavlović studied history at the University of Belgrade, where he obtained his first Ph.D. His second Ph.D. on the history of French-Serbian relations during the First World War was awarded by the University of Paris-Sorbonne. He worked as a researcher at the Institute of History of the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences, and continued his career as a history Lecturer at University of Belgrade, University of Limoges in France and the American University of Paris. Currently, Professor Pavlović is a member of the Institute of Balkan Studies within the Serbian Academy of Arts and Sciences in Belgrade. He has published books on US-Yugoslav relations during the Second World War, edited a volume on the Balkans during the Cold War period, and on Italy's Strategies in the Balkans. His latest publication on the biography of Josip Broz Tito is in progress.
