Larry Hinkson (MBBS, MRCOG, FRCOG, MD) Oberarzt am Universitätsklinikum Charité Berlin, führt eine sanfte und schmerzfreie äußere Wendung (ECV) mittels spezieller Massagetechnik, bei einer Patientin deren Baby sich in Beckenendlage befindet, durch. Wir bedanken uns bei der Patientin, die es uns erlaubte, die Durchführung der Technik zu filmen. Eine schriftliche Einverständniserklärung für die Dokumentation und die Veroeffentlichung liegt vor. Die äußere Wendung wird in Übereinstimmung mit den Leitlinien des Krankenhauses durchgeführt. Diese beinhalten eine Voruntersuchung, einen Ultraschall, sowie genaue Erläuterung der Vorteile und der Risiken der Technik. Eine schriftliche Einverständiserklärung wird eingeholt und das Baby wird vor, während und nach dem Manover überwacht, um dessen Wohlbefinden sicherzustellen. Ein Anästhesieteam und ein OP Team stehen stets in Bereitschaft. Nach der erfolgreich durchgeführten Wendung des Babies bleibt die Patientin manchmal eine Nacht zur Überwachung stationär und wird mit der Aussicht auf eine normale vaginale Entbindung entlassen.

Larry Hinkson (MBBS, MRCOG, FRCOG, MD), a British trained Obstetric and Gynaecology Consultant working at the world famous Charité University Hospital in Berlin Mitte, performs a soft touch and painless External Cephalic Version (Äußere Wendung) using a special massage technique on a patient whose baby was in breech presentation. We are very grateful to the patient who allowed us to film the procedure. Full consent from her was obtained for public broadcast. The External Cephalic Version procedure is preformed in accordance with hospital guidelines, which involves a pre-procedure assessment, ultrasound examination and explanation of the benefits and risks. Full consent is always obtained. Monitoring of the fetus is performed before, during and afterwards to ensure optimal fetal well-being. All external cephalic versions are performed with the anaesthetic team and operation team on standby in the unlikely event that they are needed. After a successful external cephalic version, patients can stay overnight for observation and are discharged with a normal vaginal delivery expected.
