Judgement day Solo - Eddie van Halen cover using ​⁠@Bogren.Digital and ​⁠@EventideAudio plugins

I am constantly chasing Eddie’s sound one way or another. I have been since I was 14. Back then it was a Marshall 80w “valvestate” amp and a Yamaha FX500

Then I moved on to a line 6 AX212 which was my first “touring” amp when in was on tour with “RENT” and was required to be D.I. - back in 2001 - yes really! Even the Line 6 pod s not yet out. But I kept trying to get the sound

Then I worked out a passing similarity (albeit a bit fizzy) when i finally got a PODXT on tour in Japan.

I got a decent sound with ​⁠​⁠​⁠@NativeInstruments guitar rig 5 - indeed a lot of people liked that sound on my “Humans Being” video - https://youtu.be/TQd4V2R0r6U?si=weYpdZBQiu9aoLSb

I tried also using a real ​⁠​⁠​⁠@EVHgear 5150iii combo through a ​⁠​⁠​⁠@TwoNotestv captor X - probably the best “feel” I ever got when I did “feelin” of the Balance album - https://youtu.be/dak_MpiY7vk?si=KH5TtEq_iYSTfQbC . And that was paired with the ​⁠​⁠​⁠@EventideAudio H3000 plug in.

BUT I really feel like I have touched on something here. So this set up is ​⁠​⁠​⁠@Bogren.Digital BDH which I assume to be a model of the block letter 5150 from the early 90s. I heard about this from ​⁠​⁠​⁠@SpectreSoundStudios - Glenn advised to load this and then leave it the F**k alone!! Which i did mostly - trying to resist the urge to pump the gain too high. I loaded this in Logic Pro mono - central. Then I sent out an auxiliary to the new (not so) secret weapon…..​⁠​⁠​⁠@EventideAudio micro pitch in stereo. Add a touch of delay. Et Voilà

So here is me - playing that set up with my trusty old ​⁠​⁠@ernieballinc musicman Axis - warts and all (and double chins……I’m working on that too). It’s not perfect but it’s more to illustrate the sound - but I hope the playing passes.

The backing track is also me. Drums programmed on slate digital and live bass also through ​⁠​⁠@Bogren.Digital bass Knob. I’m feeling like my mixes are starting to pop more!
