Godot Essentials – 2D Player Movement (4 & 8 Directions) / Animations for walking and attacking

In this episode of Godot Essentials for 2D Games, we create a fully controllable 2D player character from scratch.

We’ll set up a dedicated Player scene with CharacterBody2D, add AnimatedSprite2D animations for walking, running and attacking, and write a simple movement script that reads input, sets velocity, and handles both 4-directional and 8-directional movement.
