LEGO Ideas is releasing two new free LEGO sets as gifts with purchase beginning July 1: 40788 Friendly Snails will be available with any purchase over $160 / €160, and 40789 Flying Moon Car will be available to LEGO Insiders for 2,500 points and added to any order.

40788 Friendly Snails was submitted to the Build the Gift of Purchase Set of your Dreams challenge under the name of The Autumn Snails. Fan designer Maxime, known as Jagamax on LEGO Ideas, used exactly 250 pieces in the initial project to create two snails, a fallen log and small display stand.

The final model ups the piece count to 264, but keeps most things remarkably similar—the snail atop the log appears to be identical to the fan design based on the initial pictures. The log and the other snail each got a little bit of a makeover, but remain faithful to Maxime’s design. The bee from the initial idea also got carried over, keeping an extra bit of life and detail in the scene. While the set is intended to be displayed as a full unit, the snails can be easily removed and used elsewhere.
