3 Gypsy Jazz Licks On 'Sweet Georgia Brown'.

Here's 3 awesome licks you can try out on 'Sweet Georgia Brown'. Of course they work on any dominant 7th chord in any song but in this video I use the classic 'Sweet Georgia Brown' to demonstrate them.

Lick 1 - This is the kind of lick Django would play inspired by Louis Armstrong. It's punchy and sounds great over a major or dom 7th chord. It bounces between the 5th B and tonic E over E7.

Lick 2 - A very simple to play idea based around the major triad. Think of the campfire D major chord and play those notes. When you add the -5 things become interesting!

Lick 3 - Here's a killer country/gypsy style lick that is actually easy to play at fast tempos and burns!

With all these licks it's so important to give them a lot of feel. The way to do that is to not have to think technically about what you're doing..then you have space to put some soul into it. ;-)

Remember, the key to improving your soloing skills is to learn these licks one at a time and slowly integrate them into your playing.
