What is the Jupiter and Saturn Great Conjunction and how can I watch it tonight?

Saturn and Jupiter will tonight align in a rare astronomic event which hasn't happened in nearly 800 years.

Their orbits will be perfectly aligned to reflect the sun onto the Earth, creating the appearance of a bright 'star' in the skies.

The last time this happened was in 1226, and it can be seen with the naked eye or with a pair of binoculars.

Because of its bright appearance, the Vatican now believes this could be one of the explanations of the Star of Bethlehem story, which supposedly guided the three Wise Men on the day Jesus was born.
