Fusion Friday #33: Quick Djent

Who doesn't love a quick Djent? My goal for this video was to use some dynamics within the progressive metal space while experimenting with clean and dirty guitar tones together. The result is this tune, which is in Ab melodic minor. The middle part of the tune goes to Eb7, the 5 chord and then goes to Emaj7 the 6 chord in Ab Harmonic minor. I'm also playing Cbmaj7#5 to G diminished in the middle section of the tune. Essentially I'm using chords from both Harmonic and Melodic Minor. I'm a huge fan of m/Maj7 chord voicings and how they can be used to create dark melancholic sounds. For the ending, I went for some punishing breakdowns circa 2010.
