True Story of a successful medical PG Aspirant
PG Medical Entrance Exam Preparation – THE SECRET REVEALED!
Decoding the PG Medical Entrance Exam
The first and foremost thing you need to do is understand the standards upon which you will be evaluated in the PG Entrance exam. What the examiners are evaluating and looking for in the prospective candidate. The answer to this is profound and explicit at the same time.
The test is actually examining how well you understood the subject that you learnt for the past 6 years and how you applied it during your internship. The candidate needs to approach each question in exam the same way; he would treat a patient by careful diagnosis. Once you understand the mind of the evaluators, you will easily be able to study accordingly. Though mugging up the medical jargon is one part, understanding is what will make you stand out among the crowd.
Start Early
Many students generally ask as to what is the best time to start the preparation. Alas! They fail to recognize that they have already done half the preparation while pursuing MBBS. If you are serious during your MBBS and maintaining good notes, your work is half-done. Though the first two years in MBBS College pass like a wing, third year is high time you got to get serious. Latest by third year, you should start with your PG Medical Entrance preparation side by side.
Go Step-By-Step
Follow these 3 simple steps to be ahead of the competition:
Learn and cover the syllabus in first reading. Strengthen your concept and understanding.
Revise rigorously. Start revision at least 4 months before the exam. Refrain from learning new concepts at this stage
Buckle up for the examination a month before. Intensive time management and online test series should be your only priority by now.
Subject-wise Weekly Test Series
With more than 700 topics, MBBS is by far the toughest stream to opt for. But once you have taken this leap of faith, ensure that you do justice to your decision. It is imperative that you test your knowledge of the subject from time to time. To do that, make it a point to enroll for weekly test series. These tests are so organized that they give you one week’s time to prepare for a particular topic of which you will be informed in advance. On Sunday, the candidate is evaluated with a set of 200-300 MCQs. This not only makes you test ready but also gives you a reality check of where you stand.
MCQ’s-Theory-MCQ’s
To have a strong grip on the topic, follow this mantra as this will increase your purview and enhance your retaining capabilities while honing your concept. It has a multipronged effect and is the golden rule for cracking any entrance exam. The more you attempt, the more you master the game.
Say No to All Nighters
Refrain from studying during nights as this may make you lethargic. The best time to study is during the morning. Also, avoid studying continuously for long hours. Take breaks after every two hours to refresh and unwind.
Group Study
Group study has proved to be really helpful for some aspirants. The idea here is to surround oneself with like-minded bunch of people pursuing the same goal. This exercise will not only help you keep a close watch on your competitor’s strategies but would also encourage you to study harder. This will also act as a doubt clearing session aiding constructive discussion.
Stay Motivated
Do not get demoralized in the middle of your preparation. It is very easy to get bored or get bogged down by pressure, half-way through your preparation, but you need to cross this hurdle and shun all negativity to keep going. Do all it takes to give your hundred percent. Believe in yourself and you will surely crack the PGMEE.
