Indore Lost Its Forests? | Citizens Raise Water Concerns | Maut Ka Kua
Namaste Ji,
In this episode of our street discussion segment "Maut Ka Kua", I asked a simple but thought-provoking question.
We were standing in Scheme No. 78, Indore.
A place that, according to many long-time residents, was once surrounded by greenery and open natural spaces.
I shared my observation and said:
"This area was once like a forest in front of my eyes. Today, buildings and development have replaced much of that green cover."
But then another important question came up.
If cities continue expanding rapidly and trees continue disappearing, where will the water come from in the future?
The response from one citizen was short but powerful:
"Sir, at this rate, water may only remain in promises."
That single statement reflects a growing concern many people have today.
Cities are expanding.
Population is increasing.
Concrete structures are replacing open land.
Groundwater levels are under pressure.
And every summer, discussions about water shortages become louder.
Development is important.
Infrastructure is important.
Housing is important.
But sustainable development is equally important.
Because roads, buildings, malls, and colonies can be constructed in a few years.
Nature takes decades to rebuild.
The conversation is not about being against development.
It is about asking whether development and environmental protection can move together.
Can we create more green spaces?
Can rainwater harvesting become mandatory?
Can cities protect existing trees while expanding?
Can future planning include water security as a priority?
These are questions every growing city will eventually have to answer.
This video is not about politics.
It is about the future.
Because the biggest environmental problems often start as small warnings that people ignore.
What do you think?
Is urban development happening at the cost of nature?
And what should cities like Indore do to secure their water future?
Share your thoughts in the comments.
