The Trump administration has ordered U.S. embassies to stop scheduling student visas as it prepares to implement social media screenings for all international applicants. The stop is an escalation from current measures, which have primarily targeted students who supported Palestine. Students and professors held a protest outside Harvard University to express solidarity with international students. Over 1 million foreign students in the U.S. contributed $43.8 billion to the U.S. economy during the 2023-2024 academic year and supported over 378,000 jobs.
