Squat Modifications,

When someone struggles with a standard bilateral, two legged squat, modifications are usually limited to pushing the knees out further, reducing load and/or range of motion. These can make someone feel better but they don’t accomplish a “better” squat, if anything it makes it less productive.

Opting for split squats should be the standard; they provide significantly more movement freedom by allowing the foot to go both forwards and back, but also allowing the person to sit back further or lean forward to promote quad or glute bias.
