The name Tablasupa is referred to as the identity of the indigenous community of one of the Tepera Tribe. They have long lived on the coast of Jayapura Regency, Papua. As a consultant for the National Tourism Village of Tablasupa Village, Soopia revealed that the location for observing Cenderawasih birds in Tablasupa Village is guarded and managed by the Tablasupa Village Nature Lovers Group, named Amomai.

There are three spots for observing Cenderawasih birds in Tablasupa and close to the highway.

Soopia said that there were not too many visitors or tourists who came to see the birds of paradise in Tablasupa Village, but also not too few. Indeed, said Sopia, visitors and tourists from outside Papua generally do not know about the bird of paradise spot in Tablasupa Village.

Lack of promotion

So far, the location for observing Cenderawasih birds which is very well known both nationally and internationally is the location for observing Cenderawasih birds in Rephan Muaif Village, Nimbokrang District.

However, the spot for observing birds of paradise in Tablasupa is no less interesting. The spot continues to be introduced to visitors and tourists who come to Jayapura Regency.
People in Tablasupa have been focused on promoting underwater tourism in Tablasupa. In fact, the location for observing birds of paradise is one of the most promising tourist destinations for the people of Tablasupa.

Beach tourism
Sopia explained, in Tablasupa, along the coastline in the sea there are beaches and coral reefs in the sea water. Coral reefs are still about 70 percent alive. Therefore, the location is considered very suitable for tourists who love snorkeling or recreational diving on shallow surfaces.
“For diving or deep diving in Tablasupa, we have two spots for macro photos for lovers of macro photos, the closest in front of Amai Tablasupa Beach,” she said.

Sopia added, in Tablasupa there are three rap locations which are actually good for those who like to dive to a certain depth in the sea. Not only that, there are spots for visitors and tourists who love supervision.

“There are several places that are highly recommended for visitors and tourists who like the underwater world, such as snorkeling, supervising and diving,” he said.

Live from travel

The potential of sea and land tourism owned by the Tablasupa community makes them now build their economy and daily life by managing the tourism potential in their village.

Sopia said, today the people of Kampung Tablasupa live on average with income from managing tourism potential on the beach and bird watching tours of paradise. If previously the people of Tablasupa depended on being fishermen, now there are only a few who become fishermen, namely only about 30 percent. The rest, as much as 70 percent of the people doing business in tourism services.
