Case Study: Traffic Management using Big Data| Fundamentals of Data Analytics | SNS Institutions
#snsinstitutions #snsdesignthinkers #designthinking
The Internet of Things (IoT) represents a contemporary communication paradigm envisioning a future where everyday objects are equipped with microcontrollers and transceivers, enabling digital communication with each other and users. In this context, the concept of a smart city emerges, promising an urban vision that integrates various IoT and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions in a secure manner to manage city assets. These assets include, but are not limited to, local facilities, information systems, schools, transportation networks, healthcare facilities, and public services.

The primary objective of constructing a smart city is to enhance the quality of life by leveraging technology to improve the efficiency of services and address residents’ needs. ICT facilitates direct communication between city authorities and the community, allowing real-time monitoring of city developments and enabling better quality of life. Through the integration of sensors with real-time monitoring systems, data is collected from citizens and devices, processed, and analyzed. The information gathered becomes crucial for addressing inefficiencies and enhancing the overall functionality of the city.
Data Description:
The proposed approach entails the development of a comprehensive IoT-based vehicle information gathering system, leveraging the Intel IoT kit equipped with cutting-edge features and vehicle detection sensors. The deployment strategy involves situating the sensors based on specific criteria along a road stretch, ranging from half a kilometer to a kilometer or more, depending on optimal performance. Each sensor unit, numbering at least five, is interconnected and communicates with a centralized IoT kit. These kits are collectively connected to a network, facilitating the seamless exchange of information over the Internet.
