Your Life at Every Level of a Hostile Takeover
A hostile takeover is forty-one words in a press release to the world, but it is eight completely different experiences to the people inside it. It starts at 3:17 AM with an Analyst sending an email marked "Final" for the third time that night. It ends with a Board Chair holding a room together while it tries to come apart.
This video breaks down the life of a deal at every altitude. We aren't talking about the public contest; we are talking about the invisible machinery—the debt covenants fixed at 2 AM, the wives counting the weeks you haven't been home, and the two minutes a CEO spends with an envelope before their world changes forever.
Finance is a fact to the world, but it is a life to the person living it. This is what each level actually costs.

🏛️ THE ALTITUDES OF THE DEAL
• Level 1: The Analyst. Being awake for 21 hours and realizing that understanding "how it works" is different from being the person sitting in the dark at 3:17 AM.
• Level 2: The Associate. Fixing the invisible machinery of debt packages at 2 AM so the deal doesn't break, knowing no one will ever know you fixed it.
• Level 3: The Vice President. Understanding that when the MD calls at 6 AM, they aren't looking for the answer—they are listening to your voice for certainty.
• Level 4: The Managing Director. Feeling the specific "flatness" of arrival after nine months of living inside a transaction that didn't officially exist.
• Level 5: The CEO (Target). Standing in the final two minutes of the world you built for 11 years before opening the courier envelope that sets your price.
• Level 6: The Defense Lawyer. Writing complex shareholder rights plans while your spouse counts the weeks you've been gone.
• Level 7: The Board Chair. Running the process, treatment of shareholder interests, and finding certainty in the fairness of the vote rather than the outcome.
