Arab-Norman Palermo - UNESCO World Heritage Site

The UNESCO World Heritage site of Arab-Norman Palermo is the capital and largest city in Sicily, and is a fascinating mix of cultures. Founded as a Greek colony around 700 BC, it has fallen under the domain of various conquerors over the years. But the most lasting impacts were left by the Byzantines, the Arabs from North Africa, and later by the Normans after their invasion of the 11th century. The result is a fascinating mix of architecture - Norman, but with Arabic and Byzantine touches. Let's check it out!
