Bleaching My Curly Hair Ash Blonde! Root Touch Up At Home!
How to bleach your hair yourself:
What you'll need:
Gloves
Bowl
Hair Dye Brush
Foil Sheets
Ounce Measure Cup
Powder Lightener
Creme Developer (20 0r 30 Vol)
Wella Toner - I used T18
Wella Developer (20 Vol)
Purple Shampoo
Olaplex, coconut oil or some sort of moisturizing product to treat your hair after processing it.
Bleaching:
The measurements are a bit flexible here. I typically use one scoop of the lightener and 2 ounces of the developer. But as long as you have a good consistency this can differ.
I prefer to start at the back of my head and make my way forward. Apply bleach all over hair. If you have a sensitive scalp try to avoid getting product on your scalp. I personally have never had any problems so I just smear it all over.
Remember that the hair closest to the scalp processes faster so at the top of your head its a good idea to do the hair closet to the scalp last.
Check the lightening process often. Don't be worried when the hair looks white, that is just the product not your hair. Do not leave product in for over 60 minutes. I try and do it for about 45 minutes.
Wash out with purple shampoo and then condition with a good moisturizing treatment. I used olaplex and then after I washed it out I also applied coconut oil.
Toning:
the measurements for this are pretty strict so follow them closely. The box asks for 1 part toner, 2 parts developer. I usual will pour the toner into the bowl then fill up to the toner bottle with developer twice to get an accurate measurement.
Apply all over to freshly bleached roots first. Only shortly before I wash it out do I apply it all over my hair. Depending on how yellow your hair is will decide how long to leave this on so check it often. It should not be left longer than 30 minutes. This time around I think I only left it for about 15 minutes.
If you leave the toner on too long your hair will get a purple tint to it. Since my hair is so light this happens to me sometimes. All you have to do is use regular shampoo and that should wash out the purple tint.
Thank you guys so much for watching :) again I am not a professional and this is just the process I follow!
