In this video, I break down an important new peer-reviewed study that directly compares two of the most talked-about myopia control spectacle lenses for children: *DIMS (MiYOSMART)* and **HAL (Stellest)**.

This 2024 study, published in BMJ Paediatrics Open*, followed European children and adolescents aged 6–17 over **two full years**—something we haven’t seen before in this population. The researchers looked at the two outcomes that matter most in myopia management: **prescription change (spherical equivalent)* and **axial length growth**, which reflects how much the eye is physically stretching.

The key takeaway? In real-world clinical use, **both lens designs performed essentially the same**. There were no clinically or statistically significant differences between DIMS and HAL in slowing myopia progression or axial elongation over one or two years. This is reassuring for parents and clinicians, especially since earlier head-to-head data came mostly from Asian populations and shorter follow-ups.
