Remembrance Day: Queen Honours Australian War Heroes: Channel 7

While Australians observed Remembrance Day across the nation, Australian war heroes were honoured by The Queen at Buckingham Palace.

In this report from Channel 7, Sydney, Victoria Cross recipients Trooper Mark Donaldson and Vietnam veteran Keith Payne and George Cross winner Michael Pratt, a former policeman, can be seen at the reception.

Trooper Donaldson VC was previously honoured with an audience with Her Majesty.

"It's fantastic to meet (other winners) and hear their stories and what it was like back then and I was saying earlier on, everyone's on such an even keel," Trooper Donaldson told the ABC.

According to The Australian, The event was for the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association, which is made up of surviving holders of the medals, which are given to those who display conspicuous bravery.
Earlier this week Prince Charles hosted a reunion of more than 20 VC and GC holders at St James' Palace. This was followed by a service at St Martin-in-the Field church in central London to remember past recipients.
