Why Honey Never Expires — Ever 🍯 #shorts

Archaeologists found 3,000-year-old honey in an Egyptian tomb. It was still perfectly edible. No mold, no bacteria, no decay — three millennia and it hadn't spoiled one bit.

Honey is the only food on Earth that truly never expires. It has almost no water content, so bacteria can't survive. Its pH is acidic enough to kill most things that try to grow. And bees add an enzyme from their stomachs that produces hydrogen peroxide — making honey essentially self-sterilizing.

Ancient Egyptians used honey to embalm their dead. Alexander the Great was allegedly preserved in a coffin filled with it. WWI doctors packed wounds with honey because it fought infections better than the medicine available.

The jar in your pantry will outlast you. It might crystallize — but warm it up and it's exactly the same as the day it was made.
