Northeast Ohio weather forecast: Dodging weekend rain
Your 6 p.m. Northeast Ohio weather forecast for Oct. 20, 2023: Congratulations everyone--you made it to the weekend! After rain and chilly temps the last few weekends, we're in store for...more of the same this weekend. But not all is lost! Most hours will be dry, but we'll have a few waves of rain that we'll need to track through the region.
A fast-moving clipper-type system will zip through northern Ohio Saturday afternoon into the evening. We'll likely have a dry start with a few sun peeks outside of our overcast skies. Scattered showers will develop into the afternoon and evening with a good push of some rain and gusty winds later in the day with the actual system. Highs will bump into the mid and upper 50s.
We'll deal with lingering clouds and a few showers early Sunday before drier air quickly moves in and helps to erode the clouds. We'll be blustery and much cooler Sunday with highs struggling to get out of the 40s--likely settling right around 50 degrees.
High pressure will set up a VERY chilly night Sunday night into Monday morning. Widespread frost will be likely as winds ease and clear skies stick around. We could see our first freeze of the season for inland locations away from the lake. Stay tuned!
In terms of next week, a pattern change will bring a large ridge to the eastern US for the first time in awhile! The result will be a quick bounce-back in terms of temps with upper 50s Monday, near 70 on Tuesday, and similar conditions expected on Wednesday.
