Fairy tales like Rapunzel and Cinderella tell stories of commoners who end marrying Princes that sweep them of their feet. They end up as princesses and live happily ever after. These tales are perhaps why the public is so fascinated with royals like Kate Middleton and Megan Markle.

The wives of Prince William and Prince Harry are not from royal lines and in a sense, really are living modern-day fairy tales. And the British royal family has received increased interest and fascination since Middleton and Markle joined their family.
