Timeline to Ciudad Juarez for my U.S. Consulate Interview

Timeline in detail. From my first interview with my lawyer to the day I became a legal resident in the United States.

-First chat with lawyer April 17, 2017

-2nd visit with lawyer with $535 check for homeland security for I-130 application of petition for alien relative May 11, 2017

-January 2 of 2018 lawyer said petition is still pending taking 10 months on decision: told me to gather waiver documents

-feb 5, 2018 petition approved I-130. Told me we need to file I-601A provisional waiver application, Ds260 immigrant visa application and affidavit of support. She then told me it takes about 4-6 weeks for the approved petition to be sent to state department for immigrant visa processing. And, we have to wait for an instruction letter before filing the next applications.  In the meantime, we can work on putting together the waiver.

-march 27,2018 she forwarded me a copy of the fee bills that she received today from the
National Visa Center.  These are the fees that we will be paying once I have all of you my waiver documents together to provide to her.

-June 25, 2018 I sent everything I needed to provide for the waiver application

-August 14, 2018 I received a letter that states that all documents and applications have been received and they are now ready to begin the immigrant visa interview scheduling process.  So she had to email the NVC to ask that they wait to schedule the interview until after your I-601A waiver application is approved.

-Sept 12, 2018 biometrics appointment for the NVC

-March 27, 2019 received my interview notice from the NVC. Date to be May 3, 2019 and n Ciudad Juarez we have not received a decision on your waiver yet.  We will wait and see if your waiver is approved before this interview date.  The interview should not have been scheduled because the waiver is still pending, but it apparently has been scheduled anyways.  Therefore, we will proceed as though you are attending, and then if we still don't have a waiver decision by the time you need to prepare for your departure, we will have to ask the consulate to reschedule it.  

-April 14, 2019 received letter saying The Immigrant Visa Unit at the Consular Section in Ciudad Juarez encourages all immigrant visa applicants to register their appointment before attending the scheduled visa interview.
You are receiving this email message because our records show that you have not completed the registration process. But lawyer said we needed to wait until my waiver was approved to do that.

-April 15, 2019 I got waiver approval in mail. Asked the lawyer about punishment period I will have to serve and she explained The punishment I am referring to is taken care of by the waiver that just got approved.  So, i will not be subject to the punishment anymore.

-April 19, 2019 met with lawyer one last time to go over everything regarding the interview process and she gave me a packet of papers including copies of all my documents.

-May 2, 2019 fingerprints appointment in CJ and medical exam

-May 3, 2019 u.S consulate interview

-May 8, 2019 my visa and packet arrived and ready for pick up.

-May 17, 2019 submitted payment for green card
