Greece Farmers Protest LIVE: Greek Farmers Descend on Athens To Protest Outside Parliament

Farmers from across Greece are set to gather Friday afternoon in central Athens after a call by a nationwide committee coordinating roadblocks, planning a demonstration at Syntagma Square while parking dozens of tractors outside Parliament.

Organizers said farmers are expected to begin arriving in Athens around 3 p.m., with the main rally set for 4 p.m. Protesters plan to stay overnight and depart by midday Saturday.

Labor unions, which scheduled a separate protest at the same location earlier Friday against a government bill on collective labor agreements, said they would remain at the site to show solidarity with the farmers.
