Alpha graduate Kate Liemandt is now a Stanford sophomore and intern at Alpha NYC. In this video, she answers some of the biggest questions parents ask about Alpha School — especially around screen time, AI, teachers, and social life.

Kate explains why Alpha students spend about two hours a day on academics, what happens after the screens close, how TimeBack supports mastery-based learning, and why Guides are central to the student experience.

She also addresses common misconceptions, including:

“Will my child just sit on a computer all day?”
“Is Alpha using AI chatbots to teach kids?”
“Are there real adults supporting students?”
“Will my child have friends and a real school community?”

Alpha’s model is different, and this video is meant to give parents a clearer, more honest look at what that difference actually means.
