Deep Dive into Meguiar's DA Microfiber Correction System - Shop Talk

The DA Microfiber System was designed to bridge the gap between DA application and rotary application. Essentially, we wanted to add more power and flexibility to what a dual action polisher could typically offer. One of the benefits of using a microfiber pad over a foam pad is that it will hold more material, so when using a compound, you can have a higher abrasive load on the pad, causing the cut to jump up.

When looking at the Microfiber Cutting and Finishing Disc, we see the cutting disc is thinner, has a different type of microfiber, and has more density to deliver more cutting ability. Then, the DA Microfiber XTra Cut Disc, which is even thinner than the Cutting Disc, further increases the cutting action.

Traditional Two-Step

1. Paint correction & defect removal - D300 Correction Compound with DA Microfiber Cutting Disc
2. Refine paint and protect - D301 Finishing Wax with DA Microfiber Finishing Disc.

As a Three-Step

1. Cut & defect removal - D300 Correction Compound with DA Microfiber Cutting Disc
2. Refine paint and add gloss as needed - D302 Polish DA Microfiber Finishing Disc.
3. Finalize paint and protect - D301 Finishing Wax with DA Microfiber Finishing Disc.

Techniques & Tips

- Prime the pad properly with a thin and even coat over the entire pad then, add three small dots before starting.
- Work in a 2 square foot area with overlapping passes in slow motions.
- Wipe off with a microfiber towel and repeat as needed.
- Don’t overuse the product. Remember a little bit goes a long way.
- Clean the pad frequently with a brush or compressed air.
- If you're getting a little dust or for a little more cut, mist a little water on the paint to rejuvenate.
