Subsonic 12 Ga. Slug Loads
In this video, Gary and Jerry test different loads of Alliant Red Dot to see which one works best for subsonic slugs. See the description for all the juicy details and specifications.
Hulls, Powder and Slugs
The hull used for both factory loads is a Cheddite 2-3/4" with a 16mm high brass base and a CX2000 primer. They are cut down to 2-3/8" to match the reduced powder charges in the subsonic loads.

Chronographed Velocities
The shots below are listed in order of when they were fired, from first to last. The speed of sound is 1100 fps on a standard day at sea level static conditions. We were about 1300 feet above sea level. The temperature and humidity were 5 degrees Celsius and 95% respectively when we fired the first shots. They were at 14 degrees and 67% when we finished. The gun started off dirty, and was not cleaned between shots. The chronograph was 10 feet from the muzzle.
