With the heart of an artist and roots in the Swedish culture, Mats Christéen was raised to work with his hands and finds motivation to start his own furniture-making venture. This maker-in-motion whipped out some handy tools and started reclaiming old wood pieces into beautiful, handcrafted furniture for neighbors by request. But it wasn't until he received a hefty order to make 20 tables when he decided to start his own business. And like that, he launched Foundrywood. Mats continues to learn the ins and outs of running a small business, including managing the crazy work hours and carving out time to be a businessman (even though it doesn’t come naturally). Staying true to his personal style where industrial meets modern, Mats tells the story of finding success in happiness and bringing life into old pieces of wood through artistic carpentry.
