I can't! Stop emailing! Like this! And maybe you can’t too. Isha Karim discusses the gendering of the exclamation mark and the double standards professional women face over email correspondence. Isha Karim is a junior at Saint Francis High School in Mountain View, CA. An avid student of life, she is always searching for the next thing to learn. Currently, she spends her time reading, solving anagrams, and watching documentaries, although the occasional sitcom slips in. As a self-proclaimed email addict, she drew inspiration for her talk from her experiences with double standards in email etiquette. Her hope is to show how sexism in the workplace manifests itself even in the unlikeliest instances: punctuation.
