Unity Game Dev Tutorial Part 55 | How-To Play UI, Bullet Sounds & Agent Performance Optimization

In Part 55, we continue polishing the game from the previous tutorial. This time we focus on:

1️⃣ How-To-Play / Instructions Window – Learn how to properly turn on and off the instructions panel when the “How to Play” button is pressed. We align text, add gradients safely without affecting other game objects, and customize instructions for your player.

2️⃣ Bullet Sounds – Adding bullet hit sounds in a prefab-based workflow. We show how to download the MP3, organize it in your project, and drag it into the bullet prefab. This ensures the bullet sound plays once per shot without affecting other audio.

3️⃣ Agent / NPC Performance Optimization – Large numbers of agents or objects can cause game slowdowns. Learn how to adjust the NavMeshAgent quality for low CPU usage while keeping gameplay smooth. Even with 100+ agents active, the game remains playable.

4️⃣ Next Steps Preview – Apply materials to allies and enemies, add bosses with animations, and create levels. We also discuss saving game data using PlayerPrefs, Unity’s local storage system, for persisting player progress.

By the end of this tutorial, your game menu, instructions, audio, and agent performance will be much more polished and professional.
