AWS DevOps Series Day 1–3 | Key Pair, Security Group & Subnet Setup

🚀 In this 3-day hands-on project, we gradually migrate infrastructure to AWS using a phased and controlled approach to reduce risk and ensure smooth implementation.

This series focuses on breaking the migration into smaller, manageable tasks, enabling better control, resource optimization, and safer rollout.

✅ Day 1 — Create AWS Key Pair (Secure Login Setup)

In Day 1, we create a Key Pair to securely authenticate into EC2 instances without using passwords.

🔐 Key Activity:
• Create a new AWS Key Pair
• Download .pem file securely
• Use key for SSH login to servers

This ensures secure and encrypted access during migration.

✅ Day 2 — Create Security Group (Network Protection Layer)

On Day 2, we configure a Security Group under the default VPC to control inbound access for application & admin traffic.

🛡 Security group: nautilus-sg
📌 Description: Security group for Nautilus App Servers

Inbound Rules Added:

Type Port Source
HTTP 80 0.0.0.0/0
SSH 22 0.0.0.0/0

This ensures:
✔ Application access via HTTP
✔ Admin access via SSH
✔ Controlled entry points into servers

✅ Day 3 — Create Subnet (Network Segmentation in VPC)

On Day 3, we create a Subnet inside the VPC to organize instances for better scalability & isolation.

🌍 Key Objectives:
• Define subnet CIDR block
• Allocate IP range
• Enable structured network planning

This allows phased migration of workloads into separate network zones.
