Portable HF Antenna Field Test in Snow ❄️ | Real SWR & On-Air Results.

Field Testing My New HF Antenna Build!

In this video, I take my latest portable HF antenna design into the snowy wilds for a real-world test. Built with 8 flexible silicone radials, a telescopic whip, and a tripod-mounted base elevated 3 feet above ground, this setup is engineered for cold-weather performance and rapid deployment.

Using the RigExpert AA-55 ZOOM antenna analyzer, I sweep 20 meters and share live SWR readings, return loss, and Smith chart data — all captured in freezing conditions. Whether you're into SSB, CW, or digital modes, this test reveals how well a compact vertical can perform with elevated radials and smart geometry.

🔍 What you'll see:

• Real-time analyzer results at 14.185 MHz (SWR 1.31, RL 17.4 dB)
• Full-band sweep centered at 14.205 MHz with smooth SWR curve
• Smith chart insights for impedance tuning
• Snow-tested field deployment tips for portable ops

🎯 Perfect for:

• Hams building or tuning their own antennas
• RF enthusiasts curious about elevated radial performance
• Anyone wanting to learn antenna theory through cinematic storytelling

💬 Drop a comment if you want the whip length, radial specs, or tuning strategy — I’ll share everything I learned!
