Vaudou Game

Vaudou Game is a new and extraordinary sound, the brainchild of bandleader and singer Peter Solo. Peter was born in Aného-Glidji (Togo), the birthplace of the Guin tribe, where the voodoo culture is deeply rooted, as in the entire coastal region of Togo and Benin. The use of the characteristic lines during voodoo rituals, which differ from everything one may hear in neighbouring cultures, is specific to this region of Africa.

Peter Solo blended these harmonious voodoo lines with afrofunk from the 70s, blues and soul. The sound of the band is strongly reminiscent of the sound of the legendary band Orchestre Poly-Rythmo from Benin’s capital Cotonou (in Hertme 2012). Special is that Peter surrounds himself with five enthusiastic French musicians who learned to speak Togolese. Peter managed to convince them completely of his musical concept. Late last year their debut album 'Apiafo' was released. Vaudou Game brings the fire of the Togolese voodoo culture to Hertme.
