Hello Campers,
Every camper loves a good campfire. However, not everyone enjoys the preparation. You have to either find or buy wood, then have some small enough for it to actually start because you can't just throw logs on there So what we have to do is make kindling. It's not really hard to make kindling, but it is an extra step. Of course it's easier if you can find a log without any knots or branches in it that is relatively straight. The first method is the old tried and true axe. This one has worked for centuries, and it will get the job done. There are a couple other ways that may be easier and safer though. The first is using the cone splitter on a drill (we have had one previous video about that one already.) The drill is lightweight and easy to transport. It's also not expensive to get the cone if you have the drill. The issue is that the drill can twist your wrist if you aren't careful and try to bite off more than it can chew. The other downside is that the shaft is only screwed into the cone, this can be an issue if you need to reverse the cone out of the wood. I put some JB weld on it and it seems to hold it great so far. The last method that we have is the kindling cracker. That thing is fantastic, but it's heavy and not very portable.
