Steps to Register a Cyber Crime Complaint Online

1. Visit the Official Portal

Go to: https://cybercrime.gov.in
2. Choose the Type of Complaint

You will see two main options:

Report Women/Child Related Crime (for safety-related or sexual exploitation cases).

Report Other Cyber Crime (for banking fraud, online scams, hacking, impersonation, etc.).
3. Create an Account / Log In

Click on “File a Complaint”.

You will be asked to create an account using your mobile number & OTP verification.
4. Fill in Complaint Details

Select the category of the crime (like Financial Fraud, Social Media, Hacking, etc.).
Provide the details of the incident such as:

Date & Time of occurrence

Platform (Bank, Social Media, Email, etc.)

Suspect details (if known)

Any links, screenshots, phone numbers, or email IDs involved
5. Attach Evidence
Upload screenshots, chat logs, emails, transaction receipts, or any relevant proof.

File formats like JPG, PNG, PDF are accepted.
6. Submit the Complaint
Review your information.
Click “Submit”. You’ll receive an Acknowledgement Number / Complaint ID.
7. Track the Status

Use the portal’s “Check Status” option with your Complaint ID & registered mobile number.

You will also get updates by SMS/email.
