Michigan Branchline Railroading: Long, Slow Train on GLC Middleton Branch

Once Grand Trunk's link between Ashley and Muskegon, MI, this piece of railroad has changed hands and lost mileage over the years. Today, the line runs between Ashley and Middleton, serving a couple elevators.

On August 4th, having the day off, I was up early and headed to Owosso to see what was running. I lucked out catching a couple ex-Ann Arbor GP35s, but my luck continued, and I got to chase them running a healthy train out to Middleton! It was a very slow chase from Ashley west, but very worthwhile. If you want to see geeps crawling over old, jointed rails, this is for you!
