Rescue elephants in Mae Taeng, Chiang Mai are training for flash flood response, after severe floods in 2024 caused damage to both communities and elephants. Supported by Phra Khru Odd of Wat Chedi Luang, the program trains retired tourism elephants for rescue missions. Teams have already helped in real emergencies, moving fallen trees and saving tourists from rivers. Officials now urge elephant camps near rivers to prepare evacuation plans as the rainy season nears.
