Canada Groceries Benefit 2026: Money Coming June 5 — What Every Senior Must Know

If you receive the GST/HST credit, two things are happening in the next two months — and many Canadian seniors may not know about either one.

A one-time payment is hitting bank accounts on June 5.
And starting July, quarterly payments go up by 25% for the next five years.

This isn't a proposal. The legislation passed.

✅ June 5, 2026 — one-time top-up payment
✅ July 3, 2026 — quarterly payments increase 25%
✅ Single seniors: up to about $950 this benefit year, including the June 5 top-up
✅ No application needed if you qualify and your taxes are filed
✅ 2024 tax return = determines June 5 payment
✅ 2025 tax return = determines July quarterly payments
✅ Not a grocery voucher — spend it however you need
