The New SYDNEY LIGHT RAIL- Is it Worth it? Opening Weekend Review

The New Sydney Light Rail is here, Today is the first official public opening day 14 of December 2019 and we managed to hop on board from Circular Quay to Randwick. While there were a few road bumps, we were thoroughly impressed with the quality and service it provided.

The cost on Opal from Circular Quay Light Rail Station to Randwick Station is $3.73, From Circular Quay to Town hall Station it will cost $2.24 one way. Scroll below for more info**

More Information on the Sydney Light Rail Experience -

The Journey from Circular Quay to Randwick takes around 50 minutes, it was definitely long as car or busses will get you there around 20-35 minutes.

We had a few mishaps along the the new Sydney light rail.
1st we had a few 5-10 minutes Delay heading towards Randwick.
2nd our Light Rail stopped on the way back towards the Sydney CBD, turns out someone had a stroke near the light rail at Haymarket which halted services. Ambulance was rushed to the scene, we sincerely hope he is ok and recovering.
3rd Apparently there was a Power Outage at Circular Quay Light Rail station which cause further delay around 45 minutes before the Light Rail started operating again.

Overall it was a smooth ride, Aircon was working for us, however we can see during the Light Rail peak hour service, this may be a problem. There are major changes that will need to be worked on prior to the L3 service open towards Kingsford and we hope that can be rectified before next year.

Sydney Light Rail
There will be a total of 3 Light Rail destination by early next year.
L1 is the existing Light rail line (Central to Dulwich Hill) – this will also take you pass the Star City Casino and Sydney Fish market
L2 is the New Sydney light rail which opened today (Circular Quay to Randwick) via Central
L3 will be the New Sydney Light Rail track opening around end of January 2020 (Circular Quay to Kingsford)
