EPIC Aviation Day: B-52 Bombers, U-2S Air Test & German A321NEO at Brize Norton

An incredible day of heavy metal and rare sightings across two of the UK’s premier aviation hubs!

We start the morning at RAF Fairford to witness the raw power of two Boeing B-52H Stratofortresses as they depart for their long-range training missions. While on-site, we were treated to a rare sight: a based Lockheed U-2S Dragon Lady returning from a post-maintenance air test—a true high-altitude icon in action.

The journey then takes me to RAF Brize Norton, where I caught a visiting German Air Force (Luftwaffe) Airbus A321NEO performing a navigation exercise. Also highlight some of the local based traffic, including the massive transporters that call Brize home.

To wrap up a perfect spotting day, we head back to RAF Fairford just in time to catch the two B-52Hs returning. The atmospheric afternoon light provided the perfect backdrop for these legendary 8-engine bombers.
