Collection Covers: Leif Vollebekk

@leifvollebekk 's "North Americana" was a record that walked me through a very challenging winter, thanks to a tip from our shared publicist. The subsequent release, Twin Solitude, quickly became one of my favorites of all time, and ingrained Leif as, to this day, one of my most favorite songwriters and performers. I saw him live shortly after, and it felt like witnessing a young Elton John or something - true, early greatness.

There's a song on that second album, Elegy, that might just be my favorite song of all time. I still get chills, even after a million listens, every time I hear it.
I was surprised then, when his newest album released, and this song "Apalachee Plain" hit me in such a similarly deep emotional space. It became the soundtrack to my life last winter, and accompanies some of my favorite memories as one of the only songs I've listened to on repeat for a half-hour.

If I could ever beg our listeners to check out an artist, it would be Leif Vollebekk. Here's a little intro, via my own voice, to his music and brilliance (with one fumbled lyric, damnit!).
