How to Make a Canvas Panel for Oil Painting with Meadow Gist - Watts Weekly

In this week's Watts' Weekly, instructor Meadow Gist, demonstrates how to make a quick and easy painting surface that you can make in the studio with minimal tools and supplies.

Creating your own surfaces allows to you stay in budget and make them however large of small as you'd like.

You can buy canvas like you've seen here in big rolls at art retailers like Blick, Jerry's Artarama and more. Although buying a big roll can be expensive initially, in the long run it can save you a lot of money by using it to make your own panels.

Supplies used for the panel:
Rolling pin
Masonite, MDF, Hardboard etc - get smooth finished, not rough!
Scissors
Pencil
Spatula
Elmer's glue
Piece of canvas
