Holland Onion - Sustainable Growth

https://www.holland-onions.org In 2050 our planet will have 10 billion inhabitants. The global onion production is currently somewhere around the 90 million (metric) tons. The consumption is expected to increase from 12 to 15 kilos per capita. This means that the production should increase with at least 60% in the next 30 years to 150 million (metric) tons. The export chain of our Holland Onion has the potential for growth up to 2 million (metric) tons.

But at the same time the available farmland for onion cultivation has just about reached its limits.

So we have to simply yield more onions using the same amount of farmland. How we plan to do that?
